Residential Drafting

Wood Frame of House

Our Process

Below is an outline of Barry Drafting's process used to produce the necessary documents for your future home. We will work side-by-side to review all details of the plan and ensure everything is perfected before construction begins.

Step 1: Initial Meeting

An initial meeting will be held to discuss a high overview of what you are looking for, details of the home, location, and what will be provided. We can discuss and answer any questions you may have. If you choose to allow Barry Drafting to work alongside you on your home design, a contract will be put together along with an inial quote for the project.

Step 2: Preliminary Design

From our discussion and any details that are provided during the initial meeting the preliminary design will be put together. The preliminary design will include floor layout and elevation views of the exterior. The goal of the preliminary design is to give us a general starting point that has the overall layout and features you are wanting.

Step 3: Design Review

Now it is time to dial in your design and get picky. During review of your plan focus on room sizes, door swings, window layout, storage locations, and how you will use each location. This phase is crucial to ensure reduce the need for change orders during the upcoming construction. Once you begin to get close to a finalized design, this is a great time to get your builder involved. Have them review the plan and offer their input. Modifications in CAD are simple and quick so Barry Drafting does not limit the number of reviews.

Step 4: Final Design

Once the design is perfected, all documents necessary for construction will be created. Layouts of all floors, exterior elevations, construction detail views, and any other necessary details for permitting. Once all construction documents are created you will review and approve the final design. Next step construction!
